Dr. Fritz joined the Animal Hospital of Woodstock in February 2007.  He attended the University of Illinois as an Animal Science major for his undergraduate studies.  He was then accepted to veterinary school at Ross University.  After his pre-clinical studies at Ross University he returned to the University of Illinois for his clinical year of training, completing in December 2006.

While Dr. Fritz enjoys all aspects of Veterinary Medicine, he has special interests in orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, advanced dentistry, and anesthesiology/pain management.

Dr. Fritz has completed hands-on training in surgery for the repair of canine cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures.  This includes both the traditional method of repair as well as the new TightRopeŽ procedure which is a less invasive option for cruciate surgery especially in large breed dogs.   We are excited to be performing this new procedure and with the results we are seeing.

In addition to treating dogs and cats, Dr. Fritz has experience treating rabbits and other small mammals.  In his free time he keeps busy with his own menagerie including dogs, cats, horses, goats, pot bellied pigs, and chickens!
